Special Night With Daddy

On Friday night, Sept. 19, Aaris and Aaron went to a father/daughter banquet sponsored by our church. It was held at The Plantation House which is a beautiful wedding/events house and gardens owned by some members at our church. Aaris had it marked in her calendar for weeks and was full of excitement. We got her dressed up that afternoon and then drove her to Aaron's office to meet him right after work. When we got off the elevator Aaron was standing right there waiting for her holding a single red rose. Aaris was in awe. The rose was probably her favorite thing of the whole night. Aaron said that she showed it to everyone and told everyone about it all night long. And, as soon as she arrived home, before she would tell me about anything, she wanted to make sure we put it in some water. It went straight to her bedside and is still there. She loved telling me about the carriage ride (that was only pulled by one horse even though Cinderella's was pulled by more...made a point to tell me this). She couldn't finish her desserts because she was so full. She forgot to wear a crown, so they gave her one when she got there. She got to hold a microphone and tell everyone about how much she liked her daddy's suit. She got to sit at a table with her best friend Sara. And, she got to dance with Daddy. They didn't get home until 10:15 p.m.. Aaron was to the point of sickness because of wearing the hot suit and twirling with Aaris through every single song. She is now asking when she can go on another special date with Daddy and doesn't want to wait until next year.

Aaron said his favorite part of the night was when they stopped to look up at the sky. The stars were hard to see, but Aaris noticed one very bright one and decided that must be the wishing star. Aaron asked Aaris what she wanted to wish for. Aaris's said, "I want to go to heaven soon." Then, she asked what Aaron wanted to wish for. Aaron said, "I want to go to heaven with you soon, too."

P.S. I was so mad that I forgot to bring our camera, so all I could pull off were a few pictures with my phone.

What a special, special memory! I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall watching Aaris have such a great time all night!

Oh my goodness, I cried while I read that - how beautiful and special!! That is so neat that our church does that for the fathers/daughters, it is a special gift.

She was so beautiful! I hope someday Hailey will sit still long enough for me to fix her hair up all pretty for special occasions like that. I am glad they had such a good time.

Wasn't that just the neatest thing? Sarah had just the best time. I'm a little jealous of Daddy. I wish they had a viewing room that moms could use to watch the whole thing. Yeah for Denise and Adam!

How special!! Aaris will treasure that night forever and it will make it challenging for her to find her knight in shining armor someday!! Tell Aaron HELLO for me! ;o) (don't know if Aaron has heard that Brandon Hallmark's sister, Alaina, had her baby couple months ago...name is Connor Brandon)

Thanks so much for your advice & encouragement! I am alos a big reader & researcher. Travis & I are fully confident that God is sovereign and will bless us with a child in his perfect time, but we are also convicted to do everything possible on our end to compliment his plan! I've read "Your Fertility Signals" which sounds very similar to the book you recommended. I'm also charting signals & temp each month...which may seem narotic to some people, but it actually gives me alot of comfort. We actually were successful getting pregnant in January, but had an ectopic pregnancy- which thankfully did not rupture- and had to end the miscarriage with D & C followed by a methotrexate injection. It took my body ~7 months to recover, but everything seems to be in working order again & we are prayerful & hopeful that we will get good news soon. Thanks again for your prayers and support...it means so much! Congrats on your new addition- keep us posted!

Oh. My. Word. What a gorgeous pair they make!!!

Now *that* is what our world today is lacking. Present, caring, and attentive fathers. So much of what a woman becomes depends upon her relationship with her father. This I firmly believe. Aaris (and the new girlie-one-to-be) are going to be that much more confident, assertive, and self assured because of how Aaron dotes on them.

They say that women who have a good relationship with their fathers and who feel loved, valued, and cared for by their fathers have much higher standards and hold themselves in much higher regard. Yes, you are important too, mama, don't get me wrong. <3 And it's also tremendously important that Titus learns from his daddy as well. But I am just such an advocate for fathers who are present in their childrens' lives. So important.

Okay, I guess I can get off of my soapbox now as I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir. Oops...

And P.S. I'm glad you liked the box. :0) Thank you for your sweet note, it really made my day! <3

Aaris is so beautiful in those pictures....can I get some lessons on how to do hair like that for my daughters? Now that I know about this event, I am already getting excited to let Mia go pretty soon (I mean, a couple of years from now). Either way, that is a neat idea and I am proud to be a part of Westover!
