Budafest

One week ago we all went to the annual Budafest. I have gone every year (I think) since we moved here in '92. It is an arts and crafts festival with a parade and food booths held on main street in Buda. I was in the parade in high school as a cheerleader. The library is also right there and every year they set a room up with all of their overstock of books and let you fill a bag with as many books that will fit for only $5. This is Aaron's absolute favorite thing. He looks forward to finding great book treasures every year. I get a lot of wonderful books for the kids.

Well, this year my parents signed up to be in the parade to promote their church. They invited the kids to come along and throw candy with them. My parents own a T-bird, so it was the perfect parade car to sit in. I put my old high school skills to use and made some signs for the sides of the cars. We dressed the kids up nice and warm in their Christmas outfits, and loaded them up. They had the best time. Aaris saw a few friends in the crowds and was excited that she got to throw them candy. Titus, well, he just loves throwing, so he was in heaven.

After the parade we enjoyed some yummy food including some funnel cake for dessert. We walked around and saw all the neat booths full of creative gifts. Papaw helped Aaris do some sand art, and the kids got to see Santa. After waiting over half and hour to see them in the hot sun, the kids were still in a good mood. Titus is a little scared of Santa as you can tell from the pictures, but Aaris was excited to tell him what she wants for Christmas.

My sister had come in to town for the big event. She came Friday morning and spent time with the kids and myself. I had to leave with Aaris to go and buy her some winter clothes, so Hattie watched Skylyn and Titus during his nap time. I must say that she is a saint. She dealt with Titus getting so upset that mommy was gone that he threw up. Hattie washed him up, his pajamas and the sheets. She also folded and sorted the laundry I already had washed. And, she hand washed all of the dishes we had stacked up since I had been out of dishwasher soap for several days. She almost made me cry from her selflessness and servant heart. Love you Hattie!
