Ice Skating Firsts

At the end of last year I purchased a half-off deal for Chaparral Ice for 4 ice skating passes for the price of 2.  Aaris and Titus were always asking when we would get to go because we pass it on I-35 often.  Well, we finally found an open weekend and asked the grandparents to let Skylyn nap at their house while we went out for a new adventure.

I don't think Aaron and I have ever ice-skated together.  I know that we have both done it when we were young.  In fact, every single Thanksgiving me, my brother, sister and I went ice-skating all day at the Galleria in Dallas while my parents went Christmas shopping.  We all loved it and hated having to get off the ice.

Aaris and Titus were really excited and took to it very well.  Aaris had her own style, which was to follow the advice of the on hand instructor to the T.  Titus, well, he had his own style which pretty much just looked like he was running across the ice.  They both were free of holding onto Aaron and I within the first 10 - 15 minutes.  They both have an amazing sense of determination - yet even those are with different focuses.  Aaris' determination is to not give up.  To keep going against the odds - the odds of not being naturally physically adaptive to sport.  Titus' determination is just to be the best.  He has the patience and desire to not stop until he can do it perfectly.  I'm proud of both of them and love their uniqueness.  My goal was not to fall so that I didn't mess up my back and neck and have to see the chiropractor the next day.  I gently fell one time.  Not bad for not being on ice skates in decades.
 ready to go

Aaris practicing her form the instructor told her about

He was flying across the ice - super fast, seriously
 getting better every turn

 siblings - what a blessing
can you catch me, Titus?  Uh, yea, and knock me over!

Aaris was cold so she wore my coat, but I kept having to pull of the sleeves

I'm one VERY blessed Mama!  God's mercy and generosity still blow me away with the kids he loaned out to me to enjoy.
