We found out last Thursday that Aaron needed to work through the weekend. So, I called my brother in Dallas (more specifically Little Elm) and asked if he would like weekend guests. He said yes, so I packed up the car and had my first road trip by myself with 3 kids. We took Aaron's Avalon so that Aaris could sit in the middle and take care of Skylyn for me. Thank goodness not much help was needed. Since Little Elm is on the north side of Dallas and we had to go by my brother's work first to get the key to his house, it took us four hours. We drove straight through and Skylyn slept the entire time. God really was very gracious to me. The other two kids did very, very well for being stuck side by side for 4 hours. They read books, colored, sang songs, played with dolls/action heroes and got to watch a little of their movie on the DVD player.
The weekend was fun. Titus slept in my brother's room on a sleeping bag and therefore Jeremy ended up taking care of my early riser. Skylyn didn't need to eat until 6:15 am on Saturday and then went right back to sleep. I therefore got to sleep in until 9:30 am. What a gift my brother gave me. It turned out that Titus got up several times in the night and woke up at 6:30 am, so my brother was tired all day. He took several short naps which included Skylyn one time. Aaris and I had a great time one-on-one during Titus and Skylyn's afternoon naps. We even took pictures of ourselves. She is a complete angel when she wants to be. The kids loved helping us cook dinner and dessert. And, of course they loved playing with Jeremy's cats. Oh, and we even got to see my sister who drove from Plano to have lunch with us on Saturday. On Sunday we went to church and then had a yummy lunch and finally headed back home. Skylyn didn't sleep much during church on Sunday morning so she sleep all three hours back home. Again, God blessed me with her sleeping and the other two being as good as a two and 4 year old can be in a car.
