The House With All The Lights

The last two Christmas's we were at our old house Aaron did a huge light display.  He had lights everywhere and they were synchronized to music.  We were even on the news because of it.  Those also happened to be the years that Titus was ages 1 and 2.  Titus has ALWAYS wanted to be right next to us...especially Aaron.  He wants to not only know what we are doing, how we are doing it, but can he do it, too...."Pleeeeeeeeesa".  So, of course he helped Aaron with the lights.  Aaron had both of the kids up on the roof since they were itty bitty.

Well, we moved last year and Aaron worked for his old lighting business doing Christmas installs trying to earn us some much needed extra cash.  Therefore, he didn't have time to do all that it takes to do a Christmas Lights Extravaganza synchronized to music like: installing the thousands of lights, coordinating all of the cords and wattage, and of course programming the lights to the music.

Titus kept telling us all Christmas that he wanted to move back to our hold house - that's were the lights are.  No matter how much I tried to tell him that Daddy brought all the lights with us, he was not convinced.  All year (no joke) Titus talked about wanting to move back to our old house so that we could have the Christmas lights to music again.  He would beg me to let him watch our old house's lights display on Youtube.

So, as you know, this year we had a lot going on.  Aaron asked if I thought he could get away with not doing the lights again.  I told him that Titus might run away from home if Aaron didn't do it.  Aaron thought the same thing, but was just hoping he could get out of doing all the work.  But, in true Aaron fashion, he didn't skimp on the work.  He even added more.  He build a star to put on our chimney.  Also, our new house also has very large trees that take days to wrap in lights.

Needless to say, Titus was in heaven on earth.  ANYTIME Aaron was installing lights, Titus was right there with him, and truly helping.  He was on the roof and on the trees.  We had several older neighbors come by and politely ask Aaron to get Titus off the roof, and especially off the large trees because of their concern for his safety.  Aaron, was very kind and thanked them for their concern, but knew Titus's abilities, concentration, experience and therefore comfort and confidence, and seriousness of the matter.  And, I can't leave out Aaris.  She didn't get in the trees, but she certainly liked helping on the roof.  And, I have to say that I so VERY much enjoy the fact that we live in a one story house now!

So, now when I'm talking to anyone and the topic turns to where we live, they all ask if we are close to the house with all those Christmas lights.  I get to say "We ARE the house with all of the lights".  Then, I get to listen to them tell me how much they LOVED them.  How their kids would beg them to go by and watch and listen every time they were in the car.  How they brought their Christmas guests by to see them.  It brings Aaron great joy to know that his work was not done in vain.  That it truely brought joy to others.  Plus, it doesn't hurt that our house won first place in the Christmas lighting contest for our neighborhood.  It really was an honor because we have a pretty large neighborhood, and a lot of people really went all out.  There was even one more house with synchronized music and lights.

That is awesome! and very sweet to take time in an already stressful season to do the lights.

In my mind I can picture Aaron conducting the music - like when he practiced to be the Drum Major in high school... or like Mickey Mouse in Fantasia.
