Aaris: "Why are they letting me wear their clothes?"
Mommy: "Because they have gotten too big for them."
Aaris: "Why have they gotten too big for them?"
Mommy: "They are older or just taller than you"
Aaris: "How old is Sara?"
Mommy: "She is 4 years old."
Aaris: "Oh, so these must be her 3 1/2 year old clothes, because that is how old I am."
Mommy: "Sure."
I didn't hang these clothes up during nap time because I was too tired. When I came to get Aaris out of her room from nap time I found that she had tried on every single piece of clothing she had received in the bag that day. I also walked into a pile of her own clothes sitting by her bedroom door.
Mommy: "What are these clothes for?"
Aaris: "Those are clothes that are too little for me and I'm going to share them with Luke to wear."
Mommy: "Oh, that is so thoughtful of you Aaris! There might be a little bit of a problem with that though. Luke is a boy and he might not want to wear girl clothes. And, Luke is actually bigger than you."
Aaris: "Oh, how old is he?"
Mommy: "He is 3 like you but he is bigger?"
Aaris: "Why"
Mommy: "Well, sometimes boys are bigger than girls even if they are the same age."
Aaris: silence...(that didn't quite make sense to her)...pause
Aaris: "Oh, well, we just need to find a two year old that needs them"
I love, love, love her sharing spirit. I'm always amazed at how selfless she is at giving. Thankfully the clothes she had piled by the door were clothes that I had already piled on top of her dresser in her closet that were too little for her, so we will box them up and find someone who needs them.
The next morning she didn't come down to breakfast right after waking up in her pajamas as normal. This time she came down fully dressed in her "new" clothes. Evidently she had been anticipating getting to wear her "new" clothes every since we brought them home the day before. I just had to take a picture because she was so happy, and frankly, she had just done a fabulous job matching her clothes to look really adorable.

She is such a sweet girl! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESS!
Loved the story! It's weird to think that Lena is only 2 yrs. old, but she wears the same size as Aaris! I guess that's what happens when two tall people have children.
She is so sweet..when I talked to her yesterday she first invited me to come to the hospital to visit her and then stated that she was so sorry that I was sick. Really sweet of her to think of me!! Hope you had a great Birthday Dinner.
What an amazing little girl she is! And happy birthday to you!
I love hand me downs. I think it is one of the first chances a kid gets to share without the terror of losing something really important (like a toy. yikes!)
I'm so happy I found you on here. Now I can stalk so much more effectively. :)
What a sweet story & a sweet little girl! You're doing a great job raising her!
