4 days to go

Wow! It's been a big day. We were richly blessed by our class at church when they all came (kids and all) to pray over us after worship. I could feel the love that filled that room and the sincerity and trust in the words that were lifted up to God on Aaris's behalf. Thank you everyone!! What a tremendous gif!!!

We then grabbed a quick lunch. Aaris didn't eat much. She just seemed way too excited about her tour to want to eat. We showed up for the tour to find out that only one other kid was going to be joining Aaris. That was perfect for us because Aaris didn't get distracted from a lot of commotion. She got to practice with her own supply box of medical equipment: blood pressure cuff, oxygen finger monitor, "sleeping air" mask, waking up air tube, and stethoscope. They didn't turn anything on, but Aaris did get to at least get familiar with everything they would use on her. We then all got to dress up in scrubs. We just wore shoes, a hair hat, and a mask. Aaris got to wear a hospital gown. We then toured the surgery waiting room and the operating room. Aaris will get to pick out her own "ride" to the surgery room. She gets to ride any of the bikes, tricycles, or cars that she chooses all by herself to the operating room. She then gets to pick the flavor of air to breath in. She told me she is going to pick strawberry. We then saw a recovery room. Aaris won't be there because she will go straight to the Pediatric ICU. But, she did get to see the ivy that will be in her hand with the hand brace to hold it on. She didn't seem too excited about that. She was very, very quiet the whole tour. She was listening to every word. Tonight she asked me questions about why they had to open her up a little, and how would they do that. I tried to be very general and not use the word knife, but instead tools. She wanted details though and told me that I should find out their phone number and call them and get the answers on what tools they were going to use. Aaris is sometimes too smart for her own good. We then visited the gift shop, a patient's play room, and the healing garden. When we had to leave she got sad because she didn't want to go. That was a good sign to me. We picked up a special treat of Wendy's ice-cream on the way home. No special day is complete without ice-cream. Oh, and who knew that surgical hats where good for holding hair when you eat. :)

Today's book page is of princess Jasmine going home in her car with mommy and daddy. Aaris insisted that Jasmine be smiling in this picture because she was very happy to have her heart fixed.
